La Boum - Monica Sampietro

Also in 2016 comON Creativity Sharing is present at Première Vision  in Paris, from February 16 to 18. The collaboration with this prestigious event of the textile world, in fact, continues this year with the aim to bring to international attention the work made within comON Schools Project 2015 by the most talented designers of design and fashion high schools of Como and Italian universities.

comON Creativity Sharing  was created in 2008 by a group of Como entrepreneurs working in the textile industry, which is a world leader in the production of silk fabrics designed for the highest market sectors and luxury goods. The textile industry produces goods worth € 2.5 billion annually, 60% of which are destined to international markets.

About 80% of the silk fabrics made in Europe is actually produced in Como.

In this extraordinary background, Unindustria Como ( Association belonging to Confindustria comprising more thana thousandcompanies in the provinceofComo, 30%of which aretextile companies) has created comON, the “hub of European creativity”, which has the task of gathering the most talented young people from the most prestigious schools of Europe and encourage the exchange of new and original ideas with local students and entrepreneurs and, more broadly, transmitting Italian culture and passion for the art world.

comON is the first European system of “creative sharing”, with the main purpose of letting young talented people grow together, with many experiences in tune with the rich environment of the local excellences.

This exclusive and unique project has been started to contribute to the diffusion of creative ideas, not only by putting in contact the most brilliant young people with local industries but also by promoting the interaction between different realities, like universities, schools, young students, professionals, testimonials and authorities in an enduring training workshop.

The initiative obtained the sponsorship of EXPO 2015  and it is supported by local authorities, by Como Chamber of Commerce and by 70 among firms, schools, universities and cultural institutions.

comON is structured in three different paths: one for young stylists selected from the best European schools, one for teenagers currently studying in local high schools and one for universities of style all over Lombardy.

comON at Premiere Vision displays the best works of the exhibition "LAB. I would like a park that is a great maze of hundreds of kilometres that you cannot get out of" , held last October in Como, chosen in collaboration with the leaders of the major exhibition in Paris.

The exhibition at Premiere Vision is titled "La Boum"  (original title of "La Boum", famous French teen movie of 1980) and is inspired - as the exhibition of last October in Como – by the world of childhood and adolescence, a world that is explosive, dynamic, blinding and crazy at the same time.

The exhibition consists of a central area, shielded by wire curtains dipped in pink, reminiscent of the theme of "Labyrinth" already proposed in the exhibition last October, and of two lateral zones with two large pincushions from which seem to come out, as disclosed cocoons, the outfits made by Italian design and fashion universities (Academy of Fine Arts Aldo Galli - Como IED , NABA New Academy of Fine Arts in Milan, Marangoni Institute , Milan FIT - Polytechnic) .

Dominating the space is the color pink, that best represents the world of teenagers, in all its forms: from baby pink, fuchsia, to shocking pink.

The inner and outer changes of adolescents, constantly seeking autonomy, and their restlessness have been interpreted and proposed through "cages" that contain toys, small textile toys designed and created by four high schools of Como (Casnati Art School , Como, IIS Da Vinci-Ripamonti Fashion, Como, ENAIP, Cantù, and Setificio Paolo Carcano, Como) with the aim to address both the world of the game (and the video-game) and the one of emoticons.

ENAIP, Cantù also built the Magna Charta, a big pax-man magazine rack at Première Vision to contain the raw material that best represents the textile district of Como: the cocoon of the silkworm.

A further teen touch is given to the exhibition by stickers: protagonists, such as emoticons, in the agendas of all teenagers. At Première Vision they become masks for Dummies and invade floor spaces, as many little soldiers ready to fight.

The concept and the layout of the exhibition is curated by Monica Sampietro.
